Kamikaze Pilots: The starting point for this series was a late-night television documentary about Kamikaze Pilots. A serving commander described how they all had the same look in their eyes during their departing hours. It was as if they were under the sea looking up into the infinity of the sky. Inner strength was aided by ceremony and ritual but nevertheless, to me the mystery lies in their unfaltering belief in their mission. The more I worked with the subject the more unfathomable it became.
