Performances May 30th 3.30pm June 7th 3pm Dilston Grove
Entirely composed of soil, East West is Foster Spragge’s response to Dilston Grove as part of the exhibition: ‘Between Thought and Space’.
Soil was collected from Southwark Park, a 16th century archaeological site in the City of London, Flat Time House (former home and studio of artist John Latham), a Chingford allotment, EN12, N5, BA2 and IP9. Once on site, each location’s soil was cast into a cube equal to the artist’s volume. The Cubes then began their migration West along the East West axis.
Performances on 30th May at 3.30pm and Sunday 7th of June at 3pm will see the Cubes pushed, dragged, realigned and knocked over - the soils mixing along the way becoming one.
